Travel Rule FAQ
What is the Travel Rule?
Travel Rule is a requirements introduced by the Financial Action Task Force (the FATF), and in the EU, it’s also backed by Regulation (EU) 2023/1113. In simple terms, the Travel Rule requires crypto-asset service providers (like Kuna) to share some basic details about the Originator (the one making the transfer) and the Beneficiary (the one getting the transfer) of cryptocurrency transactions. The goal is to improve transparency and reduce the risks of money laundering and terrorism financing. For you as a customer, this means that when you send or receive crypto—especially across different exchanges or to another country—your personal details (like your name and address) might be shared with the receiving institution.
While this might feel like a shift in how things are done, it’s all part of making crypto more secure and safe.
